Helmet 2 Helmet Chat with Scott Wright
01/31/2007

ward8668: Scott, thanks for stopping by. Steelers needs IMO are OG, OT, DE, LB and a big RB. Who could be available that you think they should or may take?

Scott Wright: yep
Scott Wright: They really don't have a lot of GLARING needs so they could go just about anywhere in round one. Basically it might come down to where there is value but a pass rushing OLB wouldn't hurt.

papago: Brown looked very good in the SB at LT. How good is he and do you think he'd last until Pitt's 1.15? What are your thoughts on Charles Johnson?

Scott Wright: Brown could be there at #15, I'd put it at 50/50 right now. As far as Charles Johnson goes he's right in the mix with about 5-6 other defensive ends and it is going to be interesting to see how they seperate between now and April. I'd say he's a late 1st or early 2nd.

papago: How about the QB's How many in the first round and how far is the drop off after that?

Scott Wright: 2 QB's in the Top 5 and then a big drop off after that. Probably won't see another chosen until the middle of round two as of now.

papago: Ikaika Alama-Francis where he will go and will his injury effect his stock

Scott Wright: It doesn't sound like the injury will affect him too much. At best he'll go round two, at worst probably round four.

papago: does he see Brian Leonard as an every down back or strickly a FB in the NFL?

Scott Wright: He's not an every-down back but he's not "just" a fullback either. He's going to be a versatile weapon and whoever chooses him will have to get creative to maximize his unique talents. His receiving skills are going to be his ticket though in my opinion.

papago: Whats the status on Marcus McCauley? Is he dropping and if so how far?

Scott Wright: He's dropping and might have fallen out of round one now after the Senior Bowl. He still has a chance to be a first rounder though because he will workout well.

papago: Any chance that Joe Staley jumps into the late 1st round?

Scott Wright: Very possible.

ward8668: Scott, who's better, Russell or Quinn? And is there a QB out there that could be better than both that people are sleeping on?

Scott Wright: I have always been a huge Russell fan but I'd still take Quinn every day of the week. It's like the Young / Leinart debate a year ago and personally I always prefer to error on the side of caution with QB's and go with the sure thing.

papago: is Daymeion Hughes strickly a cover 2 CB? How about Leon Hall?

Scott Wright: Hughes isn't just a cover 2 corner and neither is Leon Hall. I am actually a much bigger fan of Hughes after seeing him in Mobile.

papago: Will Michael Bush be a 1st rounder? Where will Kenny Irons and Antonio Pittman go?

Scott Wright: Bush will not be a 1st rounder. Irons will be a 2nd and both Bush and Pittman will be 3rd or 4ths.

papago: Thank you very much for your time and hope even with all our little quirks we can get you to stop by again.

Scott Wright: Later, thanks for having me.

ward8668: Yes, thank you Scott, your comments were great!
